ABOUT US

Established in 1979, the Oral History Centre (OHC) has, for decades been recording and preserving the social memories of individuals who lived through the era or witnessed historical events in the making. Through oral history methodology, OHC has interviewed personalities from all walks of life and captured their stories for the benefit of future generations. These fascinating and insightful recordings, selectively supplemented with transcripts, are available for listening and research at the Archives Reference Room.

The Centre also acquires recordings of subjects related to Singapore from overseas, of which the British Library, Imperial War Museum, Australia War Museum are a few amongst other prestigious institutions.

To reach out to the public, OHC also conducts workshops on oral history methodology for schools, organizations and members of the public upon requests.
